The 82nd Airborne Division’s annual All American Week celebration is scheduled for May 20 through 23.
All American Week showcases the division’s proud airborne heritage through a series of top-tier events dedicated to maintaining close ties with division veterans, airborne Families and the Fort Bragg community.
This year’s All American Week, themed “Jumping into History,” will commemorate the 82nd Airborne Division’s 75th Anniversary of the D-Day, Normandy and Market Garden combat jumps during World War II.
All American Week begins May 20 with a division run at 6:30 a.m., featuring more than 18,000 paratroopers, running along Longstreet Road.
Throughout the week, unit and individual teams from across the 82nd compete in a series of different sporting events. Planned competitions include a Family fun run, combatives and boxing tournament, chef competition, 10 mile road race, marksmanship tournament and a color guard competition. Scheduled athletic tournaments include flag football, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and tug-of-war.
The Division Memorial Ceremony is scheduled for May 22 to pay tribute to fallen paratroopers and Gold Star Families.
The finale of All American Week includes an airborne operation with paratroopers and aircraft from the past and present conducting missions onto Sicily Drop Zone, May 23. The event features a parachute demonstration by the Golden Knights, equipment displays and a performance by the All American Chorus. Hundreds of paratroopers will take part in the jump, followed by an airfield seizure demonstration and a marching formation made up of approximately 5,000 paratroopers.
